The Green Mountains of Vermont

The Green Mountains in the Arlington area of southern Vermont is the setting for what has become a one weekend a month destination for Rock And Paddle, its Members, and people who just want to try something new or get away for a few days of get up and go enjoyment. The weekend of February 10 The group was made up of Cyclists and Skiers who where able to make the most of Vermont's cold temperature and abundant snow. On Saturday we checked into the Inn On Covered Bridge Green. A B&B with a history located in Arlington at the base of the Green Mountains. After a short lunch in The town of Manchester we strapped on the snowshoes a set out on a 7+ mile 1300ft assent into the back country woods of the Green Mountains. It was the perfect combination of climb and distance to get the blood pumping and our appetites back for a late dinner in Manchester. We also enjoyed a movie by the fire before getting some much needed rest for the planned hike to the Lye Brook Falls the next day. The falls are an Ice Climbers paradise throughout the winter and the 2.2 miles hike in is easy when you take notice to the beautifully wooded and unaffected surroundings. Toward the end of the day aside from the final meal of the trip at The Jelly Mill Restuarant it is on everyones mind that we do have to leave but I think we will all be back for more of what Vermonts winter has to offer. Below are a few photos taken of this trips participents and and just enough of the other stuff that will have you asking how you can be part of our next adventure.
